Case study
Hunan Dragon Lake
Hunan Province is famous for being the birthplace of Chairman Mao. The golf course is located on the outskirts of the capital Changsha and will be opened for play early 2005. The 27 hole layout has been carefully designed to take full advantage of the dramatic views over the picturesque man made Dragon Lake, the course meanders through wetlands and lakes in the lowlands and climbs up through thick forest vegetation in the hills for spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
With the addition of gently sloped manicured fairways and a series of man-made lakes and wetlands, Shearer Golf Design has been able to create a perfectly balanced golf course that challenges the mind and body, but also stimulates, rewards and caters for golfers of all levels.
The surrounding forest vegetation has been carefully extended into the course, with all areas disturbed during construction extensively planted with thousands of indigenous trees and shrubs that reinforce the unique landscape character of this wonderful site.
