Good design is achieved when the golf course architect fully understands and appreciates the game of golf, the purpose of the course and its intended users, the construction techniques and processes, and the existing and natural environments.

Shearer Golf Design respects the traditions of golf as typified by the wind swept coastal dunes of the Old Course at St. Andrews, but we realize that the game of golf has moved on.

As more people around the world are exposed to golf the look of the golf course has changed to suit each individual environment. Thus we aim to design each course for the particular needs of the client, the environment and the golf player.
